About us

My name is Jelena Celcer and I am Babel’s founder and owner. I graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka, with a degree in Croatian language and English language. I am also a court interpreter for the English language and a certified proofreader for the Croatian language. In short – I love languages.

The first few years of my career were spent working in a large LSP company, but my desire for independence and a more personal approach to work prevailed.

So, in 2013 I took a leap of faith and became a one-woman band by opening my own trade for translation and intellectual services. My areas of expertise include legal and business translations, marketing, and localization. On top of that, over the past six years I have worked for the European Parliament, the European Commission and other EU bodies. I am a member of the Association of Court Interpreters and Translators – Rijeka Branch (STIP) and I regularly attend STIP’s workshops that help me brush up my skills.

However, the name Babel doesn’t represent only me. It represents a network of associates that are experts in other languages and fields, which allows Babel to provide you with translations to and from the following languages: English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Slovenian, Serbian, Polish, Macedonian, Russian, Belarusian, Chinese, and Japanese.

All our associates are highly educated language experts with at least five years of experience. In addition to their passion for languages, they share the desire for constant education and improvement.

Proofreading and language advisory services form an especially important part of Babel’s service portfolio. Our translations are proofread, providing added value to our clients. We also enjoy discussing all the dilemmas in the use of standard Croatian language at our workshops organised upon request and tailored to our client’s needs. Workshops can focus on purely linguistic issues, use of language in everyday business, or tackle the issue of public presentations.

I find it crucially important to emphasize that we have an individual approach to every client and provide them with services tailored to their demands and needs. Although the scope of demand and services may differ, we consider each and every one of our clients – from individuals to large corporations – equally important. Babel’s clients know what to expect: an individual approach, high quality, professionalism, reliability, meeting agreed deadlines. The end result? Long-term cooperation and partnership.
